Q:

Uprooted – Naomi Novik

This one’s a fairytale that got tired of being polite. Uprooted starts with a quiet village, a creepy forest, and a wizard who “selects” a girl every ten years—and ends up being about finding your own power when the old rules don’t fit anymore.

It’s eerie, romantic, and full of tree-based body horror that still somehow feels warm and hopeful. Think Beauty and the Beast meets Eldritch Florist Simulator.

Rooted in magic, blooming with courage. I loved every weird, muddy minute.
