The Golden Compass (2007)
In a world where souls take animal form, young Lyra uncovers a dangerous conspiracy involving kidnapped children and forbidden knowledge. Visually stunning and anchored by a strong heroine, it blends steampunk aesthetics with philosophical depth. Though it simplifies Philip Pullman’s dense material, it still delivers a fascinating story about choice and freedom. Nicole Kidman and Daniel Craig add gravitas. It’s the kind of movie that makes you question what’s truly “good.”
