Before The Matrix, there was Dark City — a surreal noir where an amnesiac wakes up accused of murder in a city controlled by alien beings who alter reality nightly. The visuals are gothic and dreamlike, the tone pure existential dread. It’s an eerie meditation on memory, control, and what makes us human.
