CrestReader is a gamified, genre-specific book forum for sci-fi and fantasy fans. Here, readers can discuss books, post reviews, share recommendations, and engage in thoughtful discussions Unlike other platforms, CrestReader rewards high-quality contributions with community tokens that unlock status, features, and influence.
CrestReader is designed for anyone who loves science fiction or fantasy — whether you’re a casual fan, a serious reader, or a lifelong genre enthusiast. It’s also great for people who enjoy discovering new authors, sharing reviews, and participating in an engaged community.
Goodreads is great for tracking and rating books, and Reddit has lively discussions, but CrestReader goes further with:
Once you create an account, you can browse forums by genre and subgenre. Each forum contains discussion threads (topics). Simply click on a topic to read or add your own reply. You can also create a new topic if one doesn’t already exist.
Yes! Active members with a certain token threshold (10,000) and Founding Members can propose new forums. Suggestions are reviewed by Moderators and, in some cases, put into a community vote.
Crest Credits are the heart of CrestReader’s reward system. They’re earned by making meaningful contributions like posting reviews, sparking discussions, or engaging with the community. For a full breakdown of how credits are awarded, see “What kinds of posts earn Crest Credits?"
Quality reviews, thoughtful recommendations, discussion starters, and helpful replies all earn Crest Credits. Low-effort or spammy posts do not. Here’s the breakdown of how credits are awarded:
Daily site visit – 2 credits (once per day)
Publishing a post (article/blog) – 25 credits (up to 2 per day)
Starting a new forum topic – 5 credits (up to 3 per day)
Replying in a forum – 2 credits (up to 10 per day)
Adding a topic to favorites – 1 credit (up to 20 per day)
Registration bonus – 20 credits (one-time)
Account anniversary – 50 credits (once per year)
Anti-farming regulation – If content is deleted (spam, duplicate, or off-topic), credits are deducted.
Crest Credits are more than just numbers — they’re your way to unlock features, show off your contributions, and shape the community. You can spend credits on:
Boosting visibility – highlight your reviews, topics, or replies so they stand out in forums.
Badges & ranks – climb the ranks and unlock badges that showcase your activity, expertise, and community status.
Exclusive access – enter advanced forums, special reading challenges, or CrestReader events.
Community governance – participate in decision-making, vote on features, and help guide the direction of CrestReader.
Tip: You earn credits daily through reviews, forum discussions, and helpful activity (see “What kinds of posts earn Crest Credits?” for the full breakdown).
Currently, Crest Credits are for community use within CrestReader. In the future, we plan to link them with a decentralized memecoin that can be traded externally. There are also plans to eventually have a merch store
Badges are special markers that celebrate your achievements. For example, “Top Reviewer,” “Early Explorer,” or “Community Builder.” They’re displayed on your profile and help others recognize your contributions.
Ranks represent your overall reputation and progress in CrestReader. As you earn tokens and badges, your rank increases, unlocking new privileges and recognition.
CrestReader is moderated by a team of staff and trusted community members. The long-term vision is for the community to have a voice in decision-making through governance votes.
